I got a 66 f250.
and my gauge reads off the scale when full, and
3/4 full when empty(ran out of gas).
I replaced the gauge. still the same.
I checked wires. is it two wires that go to the
gauge? orange from tank, and which other one. If I
have it wired correctly then what part of the sending unit would it be? how do i seal it? gasket sealer? silicone?
Perhaps you have a case of bad IVR (instrument voltage Regulator). Do you have a temp gauge and oil pressure gauge (electric factory) that are also reading too high? On the back of the instrument panel there is an IVR that kinda resembles a 9v battery that when bad will make the gauges read too high.
