performance problems when A/C on -- 5.4 EXPEDITION
Is it just me or when you have the A/C on your EXP runs like #*@$!
I live in the AZ desert and have the A/C on all the time in the summer. From a stop I literally have to put the pedal on the floor to have any decent acceleration and it sounds like it's running extremely hard. Should I take to the dealership? -- I'm still under warranty.

My 2001 5.4 runs fine here in Memphis. We are just getting in to the hot part of the season, but I hardly notice that the AC is running, it still as plenty of power. Good Luck.

I'm not exactly sure what Airaids or PowerAids are, but if they are open element filters, you will be pulling in much "hotter" air which significantly reduces engine performance. I recently took my K&N filter out (inside the original box), replaced with a stock paper unit and noticed quite a bit of improvement in my acceleration. And it gets pretty hot and humid down here in Houston.
Nevertheless, I really feel a difference when the ambient temps get above 90. My Expy seems to run its very best when it's around 60-80 degrees outside.

Ditto here in Phoenix....Every once in a while my 2000 5.4 4x4 will totally dog..Meaning I have to mash the gas all the way down to get it going. I have a KnN filter + flowmaster ....Plus, as soon as I put the K&N in I went from 13.5mpg to 11.9..???? go figure. I'm going to see what happens when I put the paper filter back in.

Take the K&N out and put in a Volant FIPK. It pulls cool air from the fender well . The K&N just pulls hot engine air which kills the performance
