Well, this is the heaviest I've ever loaded the truck. Got a 1960 IH T-340 loaded on the back that weighs 8700. Total gross is 14700. Gonna take it to a antique power club show tomorrow. May post a vid to see how the old girl handles the load. After many heavy loads on this truck I'm wishing I would've made the main beams under the bed a 4x8 or 4x10 instead of a 4x6 to give me better clearance over the rear tires. Just as the overload springs touch I barely have any room between the tires and the bed. I'm also thinking about looking to find a 2 speed axle. I had to have a tug to get out of the ditch I was in to load it and starting up a grade is a challenge. Either way here is a pic
Well I made it up there. The truck couldn't pull fourth gear so I was in third gear for the whole trip about. When I got there my rear end hubs were pretty warm as was the transmission. Here is a video

Glad you made it without issues but if it was me I'd be concerned about the rear tires. Even with the 8.50's you are running on the rear duals you're asking a lot of the tires. JMO.
I was concerned about the rear tires after I scaled it and saw how much it was grossing.
The tires are rated to right around 3600 a piece in a dual wheel setup. So that comes in at around 14400 rated carrying capacity just on the rear axle. So with a gross of 14700 on both the drive and steer axle I felt I was within the limits of the tires.
Still, with the age and condition of the tires they are a concern in my mind.
I stumbled across your post searching for manuals for my 43 ford 1.5 ton V6 Flathead and it appears you have done most of what I am now going through... I was very lucky to get a truck that supposedly ran until 11 years ago when her husband died... So now I have done just about all of the preventative work and hope to fire it up tomorrow... Always good to network with others who have done it before me...
Always good to see a fellow g8t owner. If you need any help don't be afraid to post on this forum. Lots of help to be found. A note, your truck has a straight 6 or inline 6. A V6 refers to six cylinders in a V configuration.
