I'm almost positive that the 77.5-79 frames are all the same basically. The early 77 where the highboy frames. Not entirely positive here though.
This is the same thing that I have heard. The early 77's (77.5) had the more narrow frames like the 73-76 and the later 77's had the same frame as the 78 & 79. I looked at a rolling frame one time that was a 1977 model year and it was the same width as my 79.
I heard there is a vin## on the passenger side frame rail somewhere below the alternator. I have a 1975 ford f250 and i can't find a vin # anywhere the door vin plates are gone and the build sheets under the seat are from a 2wd the only numbers on the truck is a body serial# plate on the firewall right by the brake booster. if anyone knows where else ford put the vin # on these trucks?
The frame does have a vin on it, but is probably covered up with rust and or paint. On this same subject, I found it interesting when I stripped my frame I found a part # (D9???) stamped on it as well.
