Quick question for the board...I have a 2006, PSD, 4dr, dually, 6.0 and NEW batteries (about 10 months old).
I JUST moved into my new home and custom garage to accommodate my truck and for the first time, I left my sunroof open--why not, temperature controlled enclosed garage? I left the truck alone for two days and came back to DEAD batteries. Could leaving the sunroof open have something to do that?
Otherwise I am tempted to bring it back to the Ford Dealer to look at it...
no to the sun roof. New dead batteries, I would suspect one of two things, Alt is not producing enough amp to charge batteries, bad connections or you have a draw on it when everything is shut off.
Well I guess that is three things. Why not start with the simple stuff, check the connections at the batteries to be sure they are clean and tight, recharge the batteries.
So, before you take it to the dealer, when and where did you get the batteries 10 months ago? Do they have warranty, cause thats where I would take it first. You need to check your voltage at the battery 13.+ v, when charging (5 minutes after start up) 14.4 v. Also, remove all 4 posts and clean and ensure all connections are good. My pass battery pos, where the alt connects was very grubby, clean with water and baking soda and then use a terminal cleaner to shine up post and cable and then bolt back together. Now check your voltages, are they better, one thing to try is disconnecting both batteries completely and testing their voltage individually, if one is lower you have a bad cell. Like Senix said, if you have left anything on when you shut the truck off, these could be a drain, ie sat radio, inverter, lights ect. Hopefully, your batteries have 2 year replacement, make sure they replace both at the same time.
