what headers to get
I like these better than chassis exit because its easier for side exit exhaust.
I don't know how long Hedman has been producing their "Elite" line. The Hedmans I bought, as I previously mentioned, were cheap and poor quality.
AWW, an airforce jockey...Hotel Warriors.....JUST KIDDING...Thank you for your service!
I know what you mean. I was just checking, Hedman does make a "cost effective" painted header. They are about half the price of the Elites. I dont know that the Elites will last longer, but with the 3/8" flange and 14 guage tubes, I hope so. The soft aluminum gasket did not work for me with these headers. The header flange has a bead around each tube that bolts to the head. The $40.00 aluminum gaskets leaked like a sieve. I had to remove them and use the Hedman gaskets. JEGS refunded my money with no issues for the gasket. They said they would refund my money for the headers if I wasnt satisfied.
I wish they were ceramic coated. I refused to pay a third party company another $300.00 bucks to get them coated again.
To finish the story of the headers... I lifted up the rear of the transmission and removed the transmission crossmember. I then lowerd the transmission and engine below the point that it would normally be. I was then able to bolt the headers on to the cylinder heads. I put a block of wood between the headers and the part of the truck that was the interference point and jacked up the rear of the transmission and in the process bending the headers so they would fit. I removed the block and installed the crossmember.

Doug's headers now owned by Pertronix. I don't know if they have a set to fit your application, but they're tuned and they have ceramic coatings.
