1999 v-10 hard starting
I am having trouble with a 1999 f350 v-10 starting after it sits. After any length of time it wont start and stay running unless you hold the go pedal down for a minute or two. It had 95000 miles and has given me no problems until now. It runs great and will start fine for the rest of the day. I was thinking the fuel system must be bleeding off somehow but not sure?? Any ideas would be great Thanks

1999 v10 same problem?
Sounds like i have the same problem.Cranks great and tries to start like on one cylinder then dies.Does this 3 or four times and then maybe on 5th try it will fire up and start on all 10 cylinders and has a little puff of gray smoke come out of tailpipe like it was flooded? I Posted a new thread today on this problem.I put new air filter,new plugs,checked and cleaned cops,changed oil and filter,and changed the fuel filter and still the problem exists.Once it starts and runs for 5 min I can shut it down and it will fire right back up no problem-.Hope someone can lead us in the right direction for a cure.Thinking maybe IAC and MAF cleaning might be where to look from reading here.

1999 v10 same problem? SOLVED
Pulled and cleaned the IAC-IDLE AIR CONTROLLER--and reinstalled and it runs like a champ.Starts right up now.When I removed it ,it did not look that dirty.It had a fine film of soot in chamber and around the spring and flap seal.I cleaned this with electrical spray cleaner and a rag.Also swabbed out the port.That did the trick.Thanks for all the info on this site.
