The dash lights on my 1965 Custom Cab have been inoperable for a few months and last night, came partially on then quit. I could use some advice.
Background: I replaced the headlight switch two years ago. All lights worked flawlessly for a time, then the dash went out. Headlights and cab light work, others have not been working.
Two nights ago, the oil pressure gauge and the ammeter lit up unexpectedly when I turned on the headlights and worked fine. I was able to dim them by rotating the light switch. Then last night they didn't work.
Is there a voltage regulator somewhere that may have gone bad? Any thoughts here including replacing the switch again would be welcome...
You need to run a ground wire between the metal housing of the gage cluster and the support bracket for the brake pedal. The wire Ford installed was a bit short and over time with removing the cluster to work on its components the wire is likley long gone. It was black incase you find it.
Thanks William, I will give that a try. I did pull the instrument cluster a while ago and didn't pay particular attention to that, but it makes sense. Thank you for your help and...Merry Christmas!
