well what could cause a WTS light to work properly but the glowplugs to not coming on?i have been manually heating them up by grounding the white wire.it kinda a pain
well about a year ago i ran a ground wire from the controller to the battery as a preventative measure because i know it has caused problems for people in the past so i figured a little back up wouldnt hurt.and i was figuring the controller but just wanted input before i decided to pick one up.i now have a push button from the white wire to fire the glowplugs(i know 10 seconds tops)but now when i push the button the WTS light goes out.i thought it was weird.
If I remember the wiring right in the dash, for the light to work with a manual control on the new style controller, you have to move the wait to start wire over to the glow plug terminal on the relay.
Been a while since I looked at that circuit though.
I converted mine to the manual button, and the wait to start light does it's own thing now, and has nothing to do with the glowplug operation. With the manual button, if you want to know if the glowplugs are working, watch the voltage gauge as you push the button. You sometimes can hear the click of the glowplug relay when you push the button, and the voltage gauge will drop, and the few dash lights that are on will dim, and also the blower motor which runs all the time will slow down too. That's how you know they are working(and of course it starts afterward).
