EL, I would recommend that you find a 390 and have it rebuilt instead. You will be much happier with the power difference and you wont have to change a thing on your truck. You can even use existing starter, alt. & pullies, etc.
The way I read your post, you are not sure of your mechinacal skills, so send it out to a good shop. :-)
