i have a f150 5spd 4.9 v6 , i just put a new clutch, slave cylinder, and master cylinder in it. the truck starts fine but when i push the clutch in it makes a really loud screaming noise and i can go in 1st gear but cant change gears, can anyone help me cause i dont know what it can be , this is my first time ever doing this
Is your master and slave cylinder bled out properly? Does the clutch feel mushy? That would be why you can't shift it, the squeal sounds like a throwout bearing.
how much do you have to bled them cause i might have not done it enough . and it has a brand new slave cylinder so it has a brand new throwout bearing , i put the whole thing together myself and that was my first time doing it with no clue what to do so i could have been me ...i need help
should be a bleeder screw above the clutch line, it's like bleeding brakes. Pump it, bleed it until no air comes out, but make sure you keep the fluid topped off in the resovoir or you won't progress, be easy on the bleeder screw, tightening or lossening, only until fluid comes out and snug when tightened. any more problems please post.
Edit, did you look at the pilot bearing when apart? hows fluid also?
yeah i kinda tighened it to hard so the tip of the bleeder sckrew broke off so i have to get a new one, is there any place i can get a whole new set of bolts for the clutch, transmision and cross beam cause some dont fit right anymore
Not being properly bled shouldn't cause the squealing. Did you use an alignment tool to center the clutch disc with the pilot bearing when you bolted up the pressure plate? Or maybe I should ask, Did you have to draw the transmission up with the bolts turning hard or did the transmission seem to slide right up?
It wouldn't be the throwout bearing UNLESS the new one is defective. He replaced the slave cylinder which is also the throwout bearing(all one piece) on a 5 speed.
hate hate hate clutch and tranny problems. i should know. ive had to replace the clutch petal assembly the firewall flexed where the master cylinder mounted master cylinder went out slave cylinder went out clutch went out...so ive had the tranny in and out a few times its just a pita. anyway on topic i cant remember but i believe my clucth and slave cylinder came with a new bearing and some grease. it said to grease the spline, spline shaft as well as the bearing? and your SURE there is no gap between the transmission anywhere? the not being able to go in to any gears sounds kinda strange if you can make it in to first sounds mayble like a transmission problem because i can match the rpms and shift up or down in to any gear without any clutch except for first that being said does the squeel sound like a bad bearing would coming to a stop
