I need to bleed the power steering pump but I don't remeber which is the feed and return at the P/S pump cooler. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks and Merry Xmas
Yeah, that's what I did when I flushed mine, but he's wanting to know how to get air out. I guess that would also get the air out, but if don't want to change it out, wouldn't driving it purge the air in a short while?
I just replaced mine while repairing the oil cooler and disconnected the return at the pump and put the end into a small catch pan.
I could see the air bubbles coming out as I moved the steering wheel to both sides and worked the brakes.
My system seems to be working fine right now.
Use the factory tool for bleeding p/s systems.Power Steering Evacuation Cap - 211-265 . I have made one of these out of a rubber ball with a 1/4" steel brake line through the center of it. Apply a vacuum pump to the 1/4" tube, place the rubber ball over the p/s reservoir, start the truck, apply vacuum, turn steering wheel lock to lock. All of the air will be sucked to the top of the reservoir. After a few minutes, all air will be gone. The p/s pump will make a lot of noise while under vacuum but, it will quiet down when you release the vacuum. The homemade bleeder can be made for less than $2.00 & will last for years.

Sounds cool, do you have any pics? I have an extra cap I picked up from the junkyard I wonder if it woul create a vacuum tight seal, if so I guess I could drill and tap a 1/4' nipple to that. I still have'nt found anyone to help me pump my brakes and turn my wheel so I can bleed using the factory reccommended prcedure.
