Merry Christmas!!
well, I did a little more snow drift busting yesterday, as everyone wanted to take a ride in the Jeep, I made about 4 trips with three passengers each, I busted up some good ones, and had a blast. I got cocky though.. I made it through some that were taller than my hood fine, (plugged up the radiator for a bit) and then when I had Julie, Belle, and my sister with me, I decided to go for a long one. that I didn't think was deep, well, it was, and it was solid on top, so I drove on top, about half way through the 200 yard drift, then as I was in too high of gear, I came to an abrupt stop, and had to regear, as soon as I let out on the clutch, I was frame deep, and the tires were just dangling.
unforunately.... I had the only vehicle that could get to where I was, in order to pull myself out, so making a phone call back to the house was completely useless. Julie doesn't like the Jeep all that much, she thinks it rides bad, and is hard to get in and out of. She kept asking for the cell phone so she could call. I eventually let her, but told her it wouldn't do any good. They couldn't get close enough to us to do any good anyhow.
I used my boots and lead foot to bust up the ice, my sister (bless her heart) got down on her hands and knees and dug snow out from under the Jeep, Julie sat in the drivers seat making fun of me, Isabelle sat in the back asking when we were going to go busting snow drifts again.
Just the time that Dennis got down to the corner where we could see him, we had gotten the undercarrage of it cleaned out, and was ready to try it again.
my sister, and I pushed, and Julie drove.. she got some movement, but I couldn't see where she was going, I think she had it in High 5th, with the pedal to the floor, because all my sister and I could see was a cloud of snow and mud.
I was at a 45 degree when I was pushing, and when it took off, I was still at a 45, but this time I was running at full speed,so that my feet could catch up with my head so I didn't faceplant into the snow. Julie kept on going till she got to solid ground, and we loaded up, I was supposed to do two more loads of snow tours, but it was getting dark, and I was wet, tired, tired ,and not to mention worn out.
This morning, the wheels were still packed full of snow, so the trip to church was lightly difficult, I looked for a car wash, but all were closed in Glen Elder, and Beloit, but we stopped and ate lunch in Beloit, and it sat in the sun for a bit, so the wheels cleaned up pretty quickly.
Where was Hybris when I needed him to pull me out.
