Motor ID?

I took the #'s off of my 351M block. They are as follows D7TE A3B, 6D8, I imagine the 6D8 is the casting date right? Can anyone tell me what this motor is out of. It's in my 74 F100 now. It sure would be nice to know. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Motor ID?

The D7TE indicates a 77 truck motor. The 6D8 would show an April 8, 76 build date, which seems pretty early for a 77 motor. Then again, 77 was the first year they put the 351M in the trucks so they were probably just getting a head start to build up their stock.

Where do you find these numbers at on the engine? Are they cast in or is it on the sticker on the valve covers??

IF you remove the starter you'll find them cast into the block above or behind the starter location.
