I am now running with a different carb in my '60 F100, and the choke cable won't reach where it needs to reach. I figured that my first plan of attack is to reroute it through a different hole in the firewall. If I still don't have enough room, what are some ways that I can use the stock choke handle? Will it thread onto a new universal cable somehow? I thought about ordering a new one from LMC or MAC's or something but I would think it would be the same length as the one I have.
You should be able to unscrew the **** and replace it with a new one on the aftermarket choke cables - mine does. You can't on the original ones - it's cast on.
You might want to try swaping out your choke cable with an overdrive cable. It's heavier but also longer and I think the ***** will intermix.
I'd call them and ask them about the ***** and the length of the two cables. If they can't get you the answers, call C&G and ask for Kyle. Here's the number:
We got a cheap universal choke cable from the local auto parts store that had a molded on plastic ****. We used a propane torch to melt the **** off of the shaft and then threaded the shaft to match the aftermarket period correct ***** we bought from Mid-Fifty. We were lucky that the diameter of the cable shaft worked for the aftermarket *****. This was for a '55.
