Mine has run great without a hitch... no grinding required. Installed this past spring.
The grinding seems to be more common on the 4x4's, and also seems to be hit or miss... no rhyme or reason.
They've apparently had some random quality issues lately, but I'm not sure if/how that issue has been resolved (or not). Regardless, their customer service has been very responsive and quick to correct any issues from everything I've read.

Like some of the others, I have had the 13 tooth on the truck for about 2+ years with no issues.
I have a 2002, F250, 4x4 and did not have to do the grinding some folks are referring to.
I got the NippoDenso, I think - very heavy duty starter compared to others.
