Brakes
I have replaced the brakes several times on my truck. I get them at advanced. It seems that the pads never fit into the shims on the caliper bracket. I have in the past ground them on a wheel to get them to fit. Last time I did the brakes I just removed the shims and put them in loose. They work great no binding or noise. I did use the spring clips in the back of the pads. Is this an after market problem or do all have this problem. Thanks A Curtis

Never had a problem but I used Motorcraft Super Duty pads (their name for heavy duty). Are you sure you're getting the pucks depressed all the way? I used a couple of pieces of wood and a large c-clamp. If you open the bleeder slightly it helps get them fully depressed and stay flush with the caliper surface. Don't forget to close the bleeder.

I just did my fronts during the summer and I put in a new brake kit including those light steel brake holder shims, mine were tight to, I lubed those shims up and relubed the slide pins and no problem. I definetly wouldn't let those brakes sit in there without those shims, seem's dangerous to me, a brake getting hung up.

The pads are against the rotor the caliper is against the pad. Whats to get hung up? I did have a pad that got jamed at an angle in the back caliper bracket that ate into the rotor. It was like that when I bought the truck. Thats when I removed the shims. I do wonder if there is a diffrence between early 99 and late 99 pads, and I am getting the wrong pads .A Curtis
