I need to replace my thermostat, and had seen some post about using a hotter thermostat. What arre advantages, and what is a part number.

I have read here lately that many are staying with the 195 stat. Some have gone to the 203 but not syre if all are happy with it....I guess it depends on where you live....Others will give there .02 soon.Good luck
Might look into a Billet Housing(Dieselsite) for the stat. The factory ones tend to leak or form a pin hole.

I was one of the ones who changed back from the 203* to the 195* t-stat. I was having some engine oil temps that were a bit too high in the summer. All is good now. I have a 203* t-stat from DS. If any one wants it, PM me. I won't be going back to one.

I'm going back to a 195° stat. Have it just haven't installed yet.
Basically what Roland said, the hotter the t-stat the hotter the oil.

Supposedly it helps the motor run better. Have I noticed any performance or mpg improvement? Not yet.

Also going back to 195° stat. I'm convinced my fan clutch engaged more often while pulling passes last summer.

I might switch back to the 192, (Fords new suggested thermostat) in the summer, it cold as heck and I like how toasty it is in the cab.

I can't say it has made any difference as to how toasty the cab is. It MIGHT heat up a little faster but not so fast that you'd notice, IMO

I can feel it, definetly hotter after warmup. Not so much how faster it warms as far as I can tell. I wished I would have used my produce thermometer in the vents with the 195* versus the 203*. Maybe with the switchback this coming spring.
