I have transmission and engine from a 1900 7.3L f250 in my 89 bronco and lately the tranny's been acting up. A month ago it was getting a little hard to shift gears and there would be a delay when i shifted from 1st to 2nd. Before i could do anything about it, it seemed to completely fix itself. It's been slowly getting tougher and tougher to shift again lately and when i started it this morning, it was grinding when i was trying to put it into reverse or 3rd and is extremely hard to shift. Any help would be appreciated.
LMOA I think the 1900 7.3 vintage systems are outdated and the parts are obsolete.lol
I am assuming you are running a ZF5 tranny as this is a common occurance. There are several possible causes the cheapest being a bad pilot bearing (possible since yours fixed itself once) clutch plate could also be getting thin not letting it to fully release, or it is common for it to be internal in the tranny worn shift forks bearings syncro's etc.
My ZF5 kinda grunts throught the gears these days, has been for a while to. But after a nice LONG ride on the highway it smooths out and shifts perfectlly throught all the gears, like shifting in butter. No idea why's it doing that but whatever, when I restore the truck, the ZF is going for a rebuilt.

Is it possible that some heavier oil has been added. Just curious does it act the same in the summer.
