I've got a used carb out of a 82' I rebuilt for the duraspark swap I'm doing..... The only problem I ran into is the rebuild kit is a little unclear as what i should set the float level at, it lists like 5 different ones for different models but I dunno where they get their model numbers so.....
It's at 25/32 out of the box, which is what the rebuild kit says for like half of them, and I've put it together that way for now, but I'm unsure.
As the carb comes from the factory, there is a small triangular aluminum tag attached to one of the screws that holds the top of the carb body onto the fuel bowl. That tag has the model number referred to in the instructions for the carb kit. If you don't have the tag you will have to experiment.
In my experience with my old f150, the best set I got for the fuel level was simple...
Very high but not so high that fuel is drooped into engine while idling... Fuel in my country is almost free, just a few cents per gallon, perhaps I did set up my carby to not run reach mixture
I have run into that problem. It seems every year has a different float level. Took me three tries to get the right setting on mine. And It make a big difference in your fuel mileage if you get it too high. Get it too low and it stumbles.
