I plan to replace my entire exhaust system in the next few months. I'll send you a PM to see if you want the stock exhaust system. My truck has 34K miles and the 5.4L 3V engine.

Sounds good-lemme know when you're ready. Shipping costs might be the only thing to throw a kink in it all.

Go with some gearing. I put 4.88s in front and rear with a TruTrac carrier. I run the stock 31.6 diameter tire. I'm as happy as can be along with the tunes I've made with SCTs PRP and LiveWire.
redwood and motomel are making some good points but with my past experience 4:10/4:11 usually don't equate to "SMOKED TRANNY" as easily.yea more power may get you there but a smoked trans wont get you home. its expensive to buy gears and pay somebody to set them up for you that I know for sure +/_2 or 3 grand , I've spent well over 15,000 in engine parts and transmissions in two trucks over the learn that lesson (early to mid 80s) then I just started paying up front with bigger trucks with lower gears and bigger engines . That solved my problems with towing big boats and heavy trailers anyway. It would be fun to find out that these auto makers finally make a tranny that will hang with what we the buyers actually need to do sometimes without having to drive a heavy hauler the rest of the time when we don't need to. This probably isn't helping,,,is it...? sorry bro.. Let us know how you make out.
Ditto those who recommend a gearchange. I know these are expensive, around 1400 to 2000 to have a shop do them including parts, but they will make a HUGE difference with those bigger tires, especially when towing. Shop around for reputable shops in your area, you'll save a good chunk shopping for the best rate. I'd say that if you do alot of towing with those 33's, 4.30 is a minimum and 4.56's wouldn't be out of reason at all. I have 37" BFG's on my F150 and 4.56's. It pulls like a stock truck now but would be a pig with stock gears. At the time, 4.56 was the lowest gearset I could get but about 6 months after I lifted it Motive came out with a 4.88 gearset. Just my luck. I'd like to have those 4.88's but not going to change now seeing that I've already done the swap. It seems like alot, but trust me you'll like the gears if you spring for it. The difference is HUGE.
Run an ad on craigslist for a trade. Someone out there wants the exhaust you've got and can't afford it. Split the cost at the muffler shop for the welding. Then you'll be happy and they will too......
He doesn't sound like a guy who is worried about making someone else happy!!
The OP asked about the 5.4 lack of power, not tailpipes guys.
Being that the truck is a 4 door, 4x4, 5.4 with 3.73 gearing and pushing
33s, this truck weighs too much. Normally I would never advise regearing
a vehicle, but in this instance, 4.30s are the only improvement that
will help you out the MOST. The weight is overpowering your 5.4 liter.
Regearing your truck should not cost you more than about $15-$2000
total out the door, with a warranty. Going more than 4.30s with only
33s is too much and you will only start sucking more fuel at that point,
because you will always be running high RPMs.
IT IS THE ONLY LOGICAL THING TO DO, or trade it in for another truck.
At that point, you should then decide if an SCT brand custom tune is in
your future.
