Whats the smallest cam that ever was available in a FE motor? I pulled the intake off the 1969 390 in my truck. Measured lift at the lobe and its only .216"/.225". Verified it on another lobe too so the cam's not worn. By my math that's .374"/.389" at the valve. Tiny. Even a Autozone replacement has more lift than that.

I dont know anything about Fe's, but irregardless that is a VERY small lift. Size matters, so they say. My '64 stock 292 cam has .250 lift at lobe, which is close to .360 total lift. Sure the measurement is right? If so, what would be the point of 390 cu. in.? I guess one good point would be 70 lbs. or so of seat pressure should allow cam and lifters to last a VERY long time.
A quick Google search on "FE camshaft specifications" shows the smallest lift was an early cam ('60/'62) at .232 lobe and .401 valve. That's .016 more that what you measured. I'm not sure if the cam would wear that much or not.
Measurement is accurate. Used my cam degreeing dial indicator and magnetic base. I hadn't planned on swapping in a new cam. I just needed to fix an oil leak at the back of the intake and was going to install a 4bl aluminum intake and headers at the same time. I have it this far apart so I guess I'm doing a cam swap now too.
