I lent out my detailed Dieselmanor directions to a FTE brother Adam0331 during the summer and he put his in, they are right on, great directions, even a cave man can do it..I could get some copies of those directions and send them to yaa if you wanted to give it a shot, plug and play basically.
I already have my gauges they are the auto meter cobalt gauges just to say I called a local shop in San Antonio and they want 300 to install them that's crazy since I have the gauges already
Don't know what else to tell yaa, for the most part we all try to do our own work on our trucks, at least what we can handle. Keep getting quotes and good luck finding somebody that will do it for a decent price.
I also have the cobalt gauges. I purchased from www.itpdiesel.com look at that website and go to instruction section and there is a detailed with pics. no biggie.

Did you ask them if that is dry or lubed? LOL Sounds like it is dry to me!
Too bad SA wasn't a bit closer... It really isn't that hard, man. If you can read & follow the directions, you can't go wrong. The only thing I suggest is that you find someone that has experience tapping. It's not difficult, but easy to screw up if you haven't done it. You could also try practicing on some scrap metal, preferably something similar to the exhaust manifolds or up-pipes. That should get you enough practice to get 'er done!
I am a bloody idiot when it comes to electrical. (I'm learning though.) I did the install myself and it really is simple. If you can strip a wire and crimp on a connector or what have you then it's a piece of cake. Go for it! Gotta learn somehow, thats been my approach with most things on my rig and I'm much more knowledgeable now.
man me and my friend installed the gauges and everything I thought was going well but then I think he drilled the probe hole in the wrong spot it was suppose to be before the exhaust manifold but he drilled on exhaust manifold and my gauge is the cobalt 6144 gauge with a clamp on probe an it doesnet seem to be working my thing is does it matter where the hole is drilled or would it be the gauge might be defective
I would think that you can still just tap the manifold and put a plug in there. Just move the probe over to the up pipe. Anybody else have another idea?
I'm sure you could tap it with the ntp tap and bolt it up so to speak Chris. To proudtruck, I gotta ask, where were you when you buddy was drilling that hole? Unless you just put the probe in that hole, you'll need to thread it.
Proudtruck, you might consider contacting Autometer and find out if you can use the probe fitting from another gauge series. I would imagine most if not all of their pyrometers use the same probe so you can probably just get the fitting and stick that sucker right there in the manifold.
