Glow Plugs

I know I have seen several posts on glow plug replacement. I see how to do this but what I am looking for is what else to do while I'm in there under the valve cover. Seems like there was something to do with shimming the harness on the injectors and maybe checking the head bolts. Thanks

Torquing your injectors was hte main one. Check your wire harness also. Yhe glow plugs are a piece of cake.

While under VCs

Check torque of inj. hold downs and rocker pedestal bolts.

UVCH retainers LINK or UVCH quarter mod LINK

Tip for removing GPs. Once they are broke loose put a piece of tight fitting tubing
over the end to aid in unthreading. Same-same to install new GPs.

Stick around here and you just might learn something. I know I have. If you don't, you're not paying attention. lol
The main thing I have learned here is that you couldn't ask for a better groups of guys and gals to have your back. "You've got problems, we got answers."

I'll say it again then. This is one great site for 7.3 owners.

It will be a long time before I am messing around under the valve covers, myself, but I know where I will look when I am ready!

Not a bad job removing the valve covers. I helped a fellow FTE'er a few weeks back with this job, neither one of us had ever done it before and we replaced all 8 GP's and torqued down everything in under three hours. The hardest part is getting everything out of the way of the VC's and not having the right sized tubing made it a bit difficult.

Use Motorcraft GP's only! ZD-11's is I think the ID number. F4TZ12A342BA is the part #.
