My camper sits in the back of the truck. total weight including truck weight is 13900 which is the max for the truck. Truck 8100 lbs plus camper (goes in the bed of truck) is 5800 lbs. I also tow a 10000 lb trailer in the winter for snowmobiling so add another 800 to 1200 of tongue weight. 5800 lbs is payload capacity.

As for the cap it is a Carry Boy. You can't get them in the states anymore from what I understand. It was off of my 04 and since they were both Ford white trucks I just modified the rear window to work with the new tailgate. I really like that canopy(what they call them here in Washington) so I decided to just keep it.

AH. Big difference between a pull-behind and a bed-mounted camper I am surprised you went with an SRW with that load. I don't think I quite hit 5800lbs vertical load in my old work truck - 05 350 DRW with a 2-car goose neck. I had some SUV's up top, but those were in the 4500lb range... plus trailer which was 4500lbs (axles at the back end = much more weight there than up front). The bottom car was over the axles. I may have been close I suppose, 5500lbs +/-.

Good deal on the "canopy".

In any other brand it would have to be a dually. Ford is the only one that can do it but just barely. They lengthened the springs in 08 which is why they are not as strong. They actually give more like a chevy or dodge but not quite to the grandpa stage that those brands do.

I drive my truck as a daily driver and having a dually for that purposes would have been terrible. My plan is to buy a big diesel pusher RV within the next year or so and then just tow the F350 as the driver. Thats why I got the manual transfer case.

Can't you un-lock the electronic T-cases? My truck does, but its not a Ford (has 4 buttons - auto, 2hi, 4hi, 4lo - neutral and 2hi + 4lo at the same time disconnects the T-case).

I don't know. I had an issue with my ESOF on my 99 ranger and it is similar on these trucks. I did have 290000 on my ranger but thats another story.

I'm a relative newbie here.. 08 f350, drw, Crew. I pull a 20 ft closed trailer (bumper) with a 55 Ford f100 custom inside. did 3500 miles behind a suburban, white knuckle the whole way.. behind the F350.. nothing.. the tow/haul is amazing.. auto downshift on brake is fantastic!..

planning a 2 car gooseneck sometime next year, thus the DRW.

mileage is around 12.5 daily, 15 on the hiway.. 10.5 towing this 7000lbs.

Sam - what gear ratio do you have? Also, any mods/tunes or just stock?

Auto down shift on a mountain road is not so great. Even in the summer I turn it off going down hill. The damn thing has locked up the rear wheels when I was hauling the camper and enclosed trailer. In the winter it would have been ugly.

I think we are talking about a slide in camper here. I was referring to the up front springs myself.

Yes I would want to go with overloads are add a leaf with that kind of weight.

Steve you can do the exhause from the DPF on bank but with the current 4" is does not do any good. Unless your goal is dual exhaust or something.

Senix, I replaced my front springs too. I just did not mention it.
