Wiper problem

Hey, all
93 E150 4.9 intermittent wipers. When I bought this van the wiper would almost always turn on and make several passes when key is first turned on, even though wiper switch is in the off position, I had the switch replaced along with the clockspring, as the horn didnt work and airbag light was blinking. Got the van back from mechanic and the wipers still come on when key is turned on. Is this normal? I hope not, as my wiper blades are destroyed on a regular basis. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks

I would agree that it NOT normal! Prob a bad wiper motor if the switch was replaced.

Power goes to the wiper motor at all times when the key is in run. But there is a cam switch inside that turns it off in the park position. That's all the wiper switch does, is supply current to the wiper motor to carry it through the park position. I can't imagine what would cause it to start and stop unless the cam switch is making for some reason later on, and as soon as you turn the key, it re-parks itself.
