Go to use 4x4 for the first time since i bought this truck new as a leftover.Of course it now going to snow 20in.Never needed it before, always got around with out it.So for the hell of it i checked the fuses and relays as the owners guide shows.Fuses are good and they are all there, but what it shows for the relays and what i seen on this board it should have 2.It only has 1 relay in the box. it must be a friday built truck..Should it have 2 relays..Thanks
Thanks for the info..Went in my garage and found a relay to test with and it worked.Going to get 2 new relays monday...I will hold on to that info about the solenoid , must happen alot...thanks
You really need to engage the 4x4 once in a while to keep the transfer case motor lubed, otherwise it will freeze up. I ususally engage the 4x4 once a month for about a block or so in the summer months where I don't really have a reason to engage it.
Good advice, my older truck (97) always hangs up at the front diff. I have to crawl under the truck and work the shift fork back and forth and spray it with lube.
This is exactly the reason why i only buy 4wds with the good ol reliable lever. No offense to any1. I know that many buy 4wds just to look good and never use 4wd. then there are those of us that do need it but cant use it cause electric shift doesnt always work. When I bought my 05 I specified manual 4wd and told the dealer if it shows up with the **** I wont buy it. It does have auto hubs which im not crazy about, and if I find a kit to swap manual hubs on im doin it.
no F-150 has had manual hubs since 1996. Ford listened to customer feedback and went with the auto only hubs in 1997.
the market for manual hubs is extremely small. the only reason the Superduties still have the option is because Ford hasn't updated that axle in years...and it's cheaper to use the manual option which is stronger
