Problem Solved 460 ???
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...ilt-460-a.html
After getting my battery charged at NAPA and getting new battery clamps. Tried it again, and tried to get it started long enough to time it. Was going to try to retard the timing a bit for reasons mentioned earlier in this post. That didnt work so today I removed the Starter and to my surprise it was a NAPA starter. Brought it in to have tested, but they didnt have a starter tester. But did tell me the starters are good for life and exchanged it for a new one. I also bought a much heavier Positive Battery Cable. That was 20 bucks. If I had to pay for a starter that would have cost 40.00. Installed the starter and cable and the sucker fired right up. Let it warm up and shut it down and it started right up. So it was a tired starter causing all this crap. I guess the old starter had no problem starting the ole tired 460 but with this new engine and the added compression it just couldnt get it done. Did go back to the advance setting on the dist. and no trouble starting.
Anyway, all is well and the truck is running like a champ and starting with no problems
Thanks again to all that chimed in!!!
