tire pressure

Hi hope someone can help. I just installed new 215/70 14 glaciergrip tires on all 4 corners, and inflated to 32 psi all 4, and they all look low. I don't have a owners manual and no stickers on door, They are on a 1994 aerostar extended 2 wheel drive,
THANKS IN ADVANCE, OLDMANBERGIE

Ok, that is partly because those tires are a passenger tire on a truck heavy van. They have a thin 4 ply sidewall and lack the stiffness to stop from sagging. Inflate them to 35 on the front, maybe 38 on the rear and that will help. I don't have to worry about that cause I run 6 ply tires, all inflated to 40 psi.

Check the sidewall of the tire. It will advise on max inflation pressure. 35 or 41 is what I've seen lately. IMO, with standard loads, you should be ok at 32 to 35 psi.

Your sidewalls are probably one or two ply, "four ply rated", tirespeak bullshix started over 40 years ago, as I recall the old man talking about the "two ply, four ply rated" crappo tires on the '60 Chev and '63 Ford we had.

IF you always haul max loads, consider LT tires next time.

as long as you like the ride, i would stay at 32 psi.

the last set of 14"s that i put on were Toyo Ultra800s in P225 size. rated to 42 psi max but shop set to 32 psi. road soft and leaned more than i liked or was used to. prior tires were firm riding with little roll at 32 psi.
retailer said run the Toyos at 40 psi. problem gone.
firmed the ride up nicely.

the tire pressure listing on the door post is only pertinent for the original brand and series of tires spec'd for the rig.

never liked a soft riding rolly polly rig

I run mine at 32 PSI front 35 rear. I gauge partly by how the tire wears, if it starts to wear on the outside edges, put more air in. If the centre of the tread pattern starts to wear, then take some air out. I had worn shocks which made my van like humpty dumpty on a bumpy road, now it's steady as a rock.
