Well after my truck being broke down for almost a year Ive gotten 2 good months out of it with no major problems but Im afraid its all coming to a end again.
Something on the front of the engine is starting to squeal/squeek/rub , so imagine its waterpump or alternator time.
I cant hardly believe how much money and time it takes to keep these trucks running.
So watch this space for the next chapter of "Keeping my junk running"!
I was going to buy a AE tool but I better check out my squeek first.
I had a squeek/squeal/rub noise that started, come to find out it was the tensioner/pulley,i also noticed the back side of the belt was getting jagged.Look at the seam/joint of the tensioner, the gap should be the same at the top and bottom,if the tensioner is going, the gap will be slightly larger at the bottom of the tensioner body.I replaced the tensioner and the idler pully and haven't had any problems since..(not out of that issue anyway...LOL).
i'm in the same boat as you Ken. that darn squeaking noise. i've changed the belt, the tensioner arm pulley and the idler pulley and still have the squeak. the alternator is a 5 months old and works fine.
i had the belt off last week and spun all the pulleys and nothing made any noise, but when the truck runs at a couple hundred RPMs it returns. i'm lost.
but the good news is all the repairs were around 100 bucks and i'm sure they needed to be replaced with 130k on the clock.
cattlerancher...the truck was down for a year b/c the HPOP went out. Poor Ken has had not so good luck on this truck, and I hope it turns around for the better for him! Good luck Ken.
