Pulled Out Stuck Tahoe

Believe it or not guys, I wasn't the one stuck!

One of my cousins got a call that some friends of his were stuck at the deer lease. Well, any friend of my cousin is a friend a mine. And you know me enough by now to know I'll jump at any chance I get to lock in the hubs, so I volunteered to pull the gentleman and his family out. We got a little video, and I thought yall would enjoy it.

YouTube - Stuck Tahoe

PS- A guy in a '03 F250 crew cab 4x4 with the 7.3L diesel got stuck trying to free the Tahoe. I also pulled him out, but don't have any video of that stuck. Towing the diesel F250 took a couple of pull, but eventually he was free so that I could then get to the Tahoe.

Good stuff.

Nice, nothing like getting the opportunity to pull the other guy out and get it on video!

SR, you got a good run at the pull. Looked a bit quick for 4LO + L. What combination did you use?

4HI + L or maybe 4LO + 1st or 2nd?

That was ballsy leaving the window down. My tires do stick out a bit more than yours, but I coat the entire window in any kind of mud

we got about 20"s of snow here in VA with my bald tires only time i got in trouble was trying to climb a steep road with about 16"s of snow on it couldnt get more than 70-80yards up the hill. not bad for pretty bald tires

amazes me how many people think their cars will get them around in the snow. i ran into a durango that was tryin to get some car pulled home and got to the point where he couldnt do more than spin the tires. i ended up dragging the guys car through the foot and a half of unplowed snow on the side like it was a sled so he could ditch it without leaving it in the middle of the road

I've got a set of Goodyear Wrangler MT/R Kevlars in 285/75/18 flavor. These tires work really well for what I do. The factory rims and only being about 11.5" wide keep a lot of mud & junk off the sides of the truck as long as I keep the wheel straight. As soon as I turn the wheel in 4wd, chunks of mud end up on the hood, windshield, and in the bed.

The Video run you saw was made in 4low and 2nd gear. I probably should have tried 4high and low gear. But now that I look at the video again, maybe it was wise not to spin my wheels more than I did. I certainly didn't want to dig down by needlessly spinning.

Plus, there was a small amount of pea gravel in the mud. I was afraid of causing damage to the stuck vehicle. I ended up getting him out on the first try. I suppose if I was having more trouble, a more "spectacular" tug might have been necessary...

What do some of you more experienced off roaders think? Opinions?
I enjoy hearing other perspectives, because that's how I learn.

Probably would have been easier to pull the Tahoe out if he didn't have his wheels cut to the right the whole time!
