I'm wrestling with adding LS as well. I had/have it on my '97 Expedition and think it helped for the snow/slushy streets. I find the rear end of my '06 F250 a little squirrley on wet/slush/snow streets. I end up flipping the switch to 4x4 hi for in town a somewhat slipper roads...once I get on the highway...back to 2wd.

when in 4x4 hi, even with the conti tires, I felt pretty good...so I'm thinking more about a complete stereo system upgrade.

This topic is very timely...though...wanted to chime in and say I appreciate the discussion.

I have a '03 f250 v10, how do i find out if i have limited slip or not? I don't think i have it
or its wore out. I can't get both wheels to spin.
I have a tree service so i need to get into peoples yards with out spinning it up and pull a bobcat on a regular basis. I am considering ARB air lockers. thx

I had an almost identical conversation with the shop that did my rear end. I'd done plenty of reading... and somewhere between the excellent road manners and not having clutches to wear out... I didn't think twice about the $100 difference between the TT and Ford OEM.

With a modified 7.3 and the old open diff... traction was a bit of a problem. It was time to rebuild the rear end anyway - so put the TT in while it was apart anyway. I've had detroit lockers in the past, but they're not very friendly for street driving. The TT is buttery smooth engaging and disengaging. Straight line launches hook up beautifully (rather than a smoking peg-leg burn out without really going anywhere). If I get on it through a corner, it's not hard to step the rear end out like a sports car, but easing off a bit (still staying on the throttle) lets the rear end step right back in where it's supposed to be. You can't even feel the engagement or disengagement.

I spoken with a couple people who put the TT in the front of their daily driver 4x4's and were completely happy with them. (I met a local with an old explorer who keeps up with jeeps riding air lockers) They said that full on lockers would be better for hardcore rock crawling (with one wheel wagging in the air), but touching the brakes keeps the grounded wheel moving. For hardcore crawlers, air lockers make sense. For everything else, I think you'd be hard pressed to beat the street performance and longevity of the TT.

The ARB will definitely get you in and out of tight spots, but you'll have to be careful to unlock them before turning a corner in a yard. If you turn a corner in a yard with the rear end locked, you're going to dig on the inside wheel even if you have traction. (like turning too sharp on turf with a skid steer)

It's a bit of a trade off. The TT would dig less going around a corner and has the advantage of not needing to be turned on or off, which could also be an advantage while towing to and from the job site.

In a straight line, the ARB would be the least likely to dig.
Around a corner on turf... the TT is the best bet.

It's a bit of a compromise either way.

For arguments sake - it'd be fun to get a side by site comparison at one of the get together's. (Same wheel/tire, same loaded trailer on turf)

the easy way to tell if u have LS is to jack up the rear of the truck and spin one tire, if the tire on the other side spins the same way u have LS if it spins the other way u have a open diff.

Thx for the coments men, and yes it has open diffs. grr... all that power and i can't get it to the ground.(v10, k&n, heddman headers, accel supper coils, super chip) I love sucking the headlights out of the dodges blowing smoke BUT i hav to do it on a dry road.
I do like haveing air on a job site that the ARB offers. I hav heard a lot of good stuff about the TT. it will be one or the other soon. I will keep you updated.
