I find this one of the easist engines around to work on I hate the Idea of a I6 engine myself. I not a fan of the duramax either.I could work on a 6.0 for a living and be a happy man

agreed (with cheezit)... Put it this way i have less trouble with my truck than my buddies with derges, my truck can at least keep from having front end troubles, trans problems, rear end problems, and most of all electrical problems... I love my 6.0l it is a miss-understood beast

Owning a Ford 6.0L PSD is much like having a drop dead gorgeous girlfriend , they're kinda high maintenance but when they are tuned and happy life is oh so sweet and all your friends are jealous.

Or a sexy wife Bull.rider, I wouldn't worry about the truck if it's been taken care of (routine maintenice & good fuel). The 1st owner of my truck ran it "chipped" and it doesn't seem to be having any ill effects.

I agree with the above posters, as long as the oasis report looks good, and it has not been tuned. I love my truck, this is my second one and knock on wood never had any big problems with them. The key to these trucks, well really any vehicle, is on time regular maint. with proper fluid and filters.

I will say I dont care much for the 03-04 from a tech stand point. they a little harder to work on with the tolit seat intake. They didnt have egr cooler failer issues like the later years though. The best years to be had are 06/07.
The I6 isb is not a bad engine but they have injector and pump issues, clutch problems, rear end issues to name a few and well its a dodge.. the doors drop when you open them, they rattle like mad and the cabs are O so much smaller.
For me ill take the 6.0 its the biggist cab, the nicist body, its not as fast as a duratrash, and may not pull better then the isb's. but it is the best of all worlds. Ford will be around with out the help of the goverment for years to come.

issues with 03 are icp sensors leaking. head bolts stretching, turbo sticking and cold start stiction (most of that has been solved with heat indution), and egr valves.
so the normal 6.0 stuff.
As for fuel economy...well its a truck.... you will get what was posted on the window sticker I can put money on that.

I get 17.7 on winter bled bone stock, and have seen 24 on summer fuel. I also burn a lot of trash fuel that I get for free but thats another story, I only have to buy about one tank a month and I just change fuel filters every 3 weeks

headbolts well theres enugh of it to going on to make you wonder. lots of trucks never have the problem, but some do and im not gonna lie.
the 6.0 has 2 spool valve per an injector an open and close coil. lack of maintance is a big player here oil gets baked on and causes the coils to stick. the 03 realy doesnt have that many hpp issues other then the pump itself and of corse the icp sensor.
Im not scared of mine at all.
to fix the head bolts swich to arp, the egr issues run clean good fuel, run to operating temps befor shutting down, dont idle it, or just plain to delete it.
the hpp issues well no real fix for that unless the ball pops out of the pump.. then just tap and install a pipe plug.
injector stiction.... change the frign oil on time
