chips... go to custome tunes by eric or t,wildman or some other know person they will improve the odds at reducing others. also SCT is a good route to take there.
How hard are heads to pull? well this goes back to not hard for me but I have never met you and there for can not make a resonable determaintion of your abilities.
I can get a set done in 12-15 hours on a bone stock truck. longer if lifted and modded. thats not counting any type of diag thats just spinning bolts

Some people can do it without removing the cab, but the easiest way to get to them is removing the cab because its so crammed and its "kindof" a cab forward design

trash fuel for me well. We get a lot of trucks with delaminated tanks, excessive water in fuel, old fuel that has been poorly stored. Theres a few of us at the shop that drive diesels so we filter and mix till we get enugh to run. we pump out 100-200 gallons a week worth and split it up. Its cheeper for us, cheeper for the shop as well. reduce, reuse and recycle ya know. So i have to do a little work for it but in the end its worth it.

They're both to blame for the problems & reputation the 6.0L got. Ford from KTP was running the 6.0L/VT365 hotter & harder than Navistar was doing in larger chassis trucks. Navistar knew Ford was running 'em that hot and continued to use TTY bolts instead of proven studs that were made with harder material...to save expense at Indianapolis (the only reason I can come up with). That's alright Ford & Navistar...I know the solutions to fix the few short coming of my PSD. The EPA is also to blame for some of the problems (EGR)...and Cummins has been having some issues in that department. Last truck I drove was an ISX powered 9400 and it burned up two different EGR valves within 30k miles (and that's all highway mileage); the dealership told me it was an accepted failure, and they carried 2 dozen in stock in the parts department.

Running light and under 70mph I get 19-20 mpg. The heavier the trailer & faster/harder I run the truck the lower the mileage goes. But the power never drops off. I've passed several Dodge/Cummins on the interstate pulling what looked like equal sized loads. And it feels good to know that the front end and tranny aren't going to fall out of my truck before I get to 100k miles.
