I have a 2001 Expy with the factory rear Entertainment system. I was showing some friends the system to see how it worked. (they are interested in buying an Expy) When I started a video, and switched it to the car speakers, it did not work. (I tried both channels). It would work through the headsets, but not the speakers. (It is truly embarrassing to be showing people your Ford and have a problem with it!) I have never had this problem before. I have noticed occasionally that the radio will have a buzzing when on, and if turned off and on it will go away.
Before I take it in (and leave it for days) has anyone else had this problem with theirs? I am going to check today (if I can get to it) to see if the antenna is connected properly. Any comments will be appreciated...
The radio stations are different for each channel. If you are on one channel (on the video unit) the radio station is one setting. The other channel (on the video unit) is for another radio channel. I will look at my maual and get the exact frequencies for you and post them here.
I believe one of the channels broadcasts on 106.something.
I tried that, between both stations and switch settings. It just doesn't pick up the frequency. I even scanned the radio, thinking it may be picking it up somewhere else. Even checked to see if a radio station or another Expy was interferring. I have used it several times before and no problems. Either unit is not transmitting or the radio isn't picking it up. It just works on the headsets...frustrating.
Oh well, still haven't been able to look yet. I assume if the unit was not transmitting, the headsets wouldn't pick it up. I think it might be the radio. Argh...
I've got the same problem with my 2001 EB. I don't have the manual (or headphones) yet to see if it's something that needs to be "configured" (dealer who had my expy didn't send it to the dealer I bought it from) The wireless headphones I borrowed from my dealer work fine.
I give up trying to find it. I have tried everything and more...I am going to take it into the dealer. I have brainstormed with many friends, and about all we can come up with is that the radio is malfunctioning. Will keep you posted...
Finally got the Expy in for the Entertainment System. It turns out it was a defective switch in the "Video" unit itself (or so they say..). It took a week and a half to get the unit back, they sent it back to the manufacturer. Seems to work for now, we'll see what happens from here. Thanks for the help everyone!

Curious? Doug, is this the same problem you had with yours?
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 02-Jan-02 AT 01:52 PM (EST)]Nope, they told me there was some dirt behind the
switch(on the Video Screen housing). The tech
that worked on it was gone by the time I picked it
up so my explanation was from one of the "paper
pushers". They had it fixed within a couple hours
so I assume it wasn't anything major (I doubt they
keep any parts for it in stock). I haven't had any
problems with it since then.
Funny after all of this, I am starting to have problems with my Rear Seat Entertainment System.
The audio via the radio is terrible. There is bad static and cracks in the audio when received via the radio. The audio via the wireless headphones are fine.
A couple of folks had issues with the radio reception... and it appeard to be associated with the frequency switch in the video unit. Am I correct? Was this switch replaced or just cleaned? I am thinking about taking a looksee myself before I involve the dealer.

In my case the switch was not replaced, just cleaned.
Since this problem was resolved I have not had a
problem with the headphones or radio.
