I have a rattle coming from behind the stock ford am/fm/6disc cd player unit. The face of the unit has a hole one each corner. Not sure how to remove it. It feels like there's some kind of spring latch deep in the holes. The rattle sounds like one of those latches is the culprit. Anyone know how to remove this thing? Thanks.
You use a Ford radio removal tool to remove it and then you can look behind it. It could be loose - have you pressed it in lightly on each side? I don't remember anything else being back there other than wires - especially since it is stock. Aftermarket items can sometimes be just pressed in there and not really mounted and then can rattle.
Here's a picture of the tool - you can usually find them at auto parts stores:

I see. You must push them in at the same time I reckon. Thanks for the picture. I couldn't quite figure out how to bend a coat hanger in a u shape, and still get into one hole. This makes much more sense. Glad I asked. Thanks for the help.
You can also use four 10 or 12 penny finish nails.
step 1- Put one nail in each hole, usually go in about 2" step 2- the two on the left.... push them to the left step 3- the two on the right..... push to the right step 4- after you have pushed all four and have pressure on all of them, pull radio straight out.
Similar to VaSheriff, I used four small screwdrivers. They were the kind with the very small heads and therefore have pretty small diameter shafts. Once I pushed them all in and felt them push the clips, I did just like VaSheriff did. You should be able to let go of them just about as soon as you have the radio out enough to grab it. On the back, you should see two plastic plugs and one metal single-post plug which I assume is probably the antenna wire.
