If it is diesel you have the block heater. Now if it is working I dont know. How long hve you had the truck. If you have had the truck and never plugged in the block heater that would amaze me. My 7.3 does not ike the cold but loves her heater and fires right up without that sound of the gremlin in the engine with a pipe wrench bang everything. You should have a plug underneath . It might be stashed up under and you will have to look for it if you have never used it prior.
Kyle you should be real happy with that . Most have problems once they are down into the low teens and high single digits. Yeah take a look under the front and it is up in there somewhere. Possibly never even used dependiong on where in TX it came from.

Not with a properly functioning GP system. Mine is a little grumpier when it does start below 0*F, but has never failed to start in about the same amount of time as usual. When the GP's were working right...
The block heater is on the drivers-side of block directly above the oil filter. Cord runs along frame to bumper bracket. The end is often zip-tied up behind the bumper.
If you go to this site you can get a PDF copy of your owner's manual, the diesel supplement, and other manuals. In one of the booklets you will find the location of the block heater plug.
For what it is worth, my truck came from NV and never had a block heater on it. I picked up a magnetic block heater from the local parts store and use that. It also cam in handy on Sat morning. It was -22f here. Truck started fine, but wheeler wouldn't start. We were going fishing and needed the weeler. I threw the block heater on it for a while and we were able to get it started.

Advanced auto parts had them for fifty bucks. I tried to find the part number but i am using my ipod right now and it is fairly cumbersome. I will find the link when i get home if u still need it later.

Wait about 2 mths and they mark'em down 50% or more. I paid $12 for the last one I bought out of season at autozone, but the box was kinda messed up. I'm pretty sure my FORD replacement factory block heater was just over $50 and came with everything, but I did not need to use the cord (yet). Call Clay at RiffRaff diesel and see what he can get ya one for.
BTW, the factory heater heats the oil and the coolant and is 1000 watts!
