Can anyone tell me how to remove the rear window out of my 76 cab?? I have tried all sorts of things and have no idea how to do it. I have chrome trim on the rubber gasket on the outside if that makes any difference. I want to tint the window and it is much easier out of the pickup. Please help
The trim you can just pry up and pull up by hand. Be careful not to bend it. As for the window and gasket, they make a special tool. It looks like a bent up screwdriver. It has a 90 degree bend and the end and about an inch after the bend. The end is somewhat pointed. Use it work the gasket out from inside the cab. Get inside the truck and start at one of the lower corners. Use the tool to slowly work the gasket out. You may need someone to help keep the window from falling when you get close to having it out. The tool is really helpful. This is how I did it on a chevy p/u and my 71 ford. My brother owns a body shop, so I've seen it done quite a few times. Hope this helps!
nitro, the gasket is like a U shape on the outside and in.
Adding to Jason just start pushing the glass out and rolling the rubber to the outside, starting on one end.. Don't try to remove the trim until the gasket is out of the frame.

In the still cool hours of the night, you can hear chevys rusting away.
If you are planning to get a new rubber gasket (highly suggested), you could take a sharp utility knife and run it into the rubber from the inside. This way you are quaranted not to damage the glass and the chrome trim comes out easy.
