My 2005 Ex 6.0L PSD threw an SES light and code yesterday. So I took it to the dealer and they said it was a Turbo Under Boost code. Anybody with knowledge of this seen this code before? Anybody know what it might mean? The tech said it could be a stuck turbo vane? Anyone?
The truck has about 55k on it, so I still have the powertrain warranty. Should I just take it in and let them take care of it? Would the latest flash update help with this problem?

technically, you do not have a PowerTrain warranty, but you do have the Engine warranty. The turbo is covered at $100 deductible. Well worth it for me to spend $100 and have someone else do that job! You may get the latest flash out of it also - it has some desireable features IMO.
the code would be a p0299. there are lots of things that can set the code. egr valve and turbo are just the 2 common ones. Ficm failers, fuel pressure issues, ebp sensors, pluged exhaust, map sensors and hose.
the repair should have a reflash with it imo... this is one of the thigs that it address.

Keep in mind, although not all dealers honor our weighted trucks...some will cover the flash and turbo concern under the emmissions warranty @ $zero dollars deductible. I'd ask first. Why pay if you don't have to. I have had this occur twice...paid nothing...
I had to call my dealer Tue (as I was looking at my invoice) after my recent adventures to see if the latest flash was installed. He said indeed it was and is a must after any ficm/pcm change. It was NOT listed on the invoice, but at least that saves me a C-note and another trip to the dealer.
I had the truck in 2 weeks ago for a rear main seal leak and I asked them to check for and install the latest flash. He said the truck was up to date and it was no where on the invoice. So I know they didn't check it because the truck hadn't been to the dealer since July and the newest flash came out like Nov 20 or so. Lyin *******s!!
The flash's come out almost daily. What was new at Nov. 20th is already replaced with a new one.
My point is that the truck hadn't been to the dealer since July and they told me the last week of November that the flash that was in there was the most current version. Sounds like BS to me!
i had the exact code. i tried the "blow it clean" method and it worked........for 3 weeks or so. took the turbo off, cleaned the vanes and all is well, so far.by all means have it done under warranty, but once the warranty's over it's a simple process to clean it up.
I know the diesel tech in my home town. I took mine in to get it flashed and 5 days later he told me to bring it in because there was an update. I took it in and when he tried to flash it Ford wouldn't let him because there was a new flash already out from the day before. I watched him download it, it took an hour to get it. He said Ford updates them almost daily.
