OK since I dont know I wanted to find out from the Forum members... I have a transmission from a 1968 F-350 Dump Truck. 2wd, 4 speed manual with 1st being a Granny. Was mated to a 360.... Im trying to figure out what I have so I can find a buyer. There is also a gear box transfer case kinda thing mounted into the passenger side of it that operated the Hydraulic Pump for the Dump. SO......
#1 What Transmissions options were there or likely what do I have?
#2 What is the Technical name for the Hydraulic gear box?
it is a t-18 transmission and it has a power take off unit on the side.(pto)
Since the OP didn't post a pic, or give a detailed description, how do you know it's a T-18?
The New Process 435 4 speed would have a PTO in the same location, on the passenger side of the case, and also has a granny first gear.
The cover used on the case when the PTO unit was not installed, is the same for both the T-18 & NP435 (BB-7165) as is the gasket (B9TT-7166-C).
Both these 4 speed transmissions were available in these trucks, the NP435 was far more common.
Where is reverse, up and towards the dash (T-18) or back and towards the seat (NP435)?
The shift lever retainer cap threads on/off on a T-18. The cap used with the NP435 has two notches, is retained by two pins that protrude from the shift tower.
Warranty Plate TRANS code: A = New Process 435 / F = Warner T-18 (after 1964) or Warner T-98 before 1965.
OK, by process of elimination looking at the shift lever retaining cap, it has the 2 pins so I guess that means its an NP435 ...thanks numberdummy. ....Also of course thats a PTO, duh....thank you 71'3604speed .......Thanks much guys....Yes Id like to sell it but dont have the pedal & the driveshaft was torched in 1/2. ....Im actually now reconsidering my entire project which I think Im going to start a new thread. At least I now know what I have!!!
