Does anyone make a coilover conversion for 96' CC PSD? The only lifts I'm finding are Skyjacker 4-6" that are just front/rear leafs and blocks. I want to keep leafs in the rear, but I'd like to have coilovers in the front. Is it possible?
skyjacker has spring lifts, i have a 6 inch front and rear spring lift on my truck, look on their site, they have 4 and 6 inch all spring lift kits. i am unaware of any coil spring conversion kits
Just make sure you get drop brackets for the pivot bushings on the middle of the front axle and drop pitman arm. I recommend them both with ANY suspension lift. If you brought it to me without those installed for an alignment I wouldn't do it. I wouldn't be able to guarantee it would be right or safe.
I've never seen a coil over kit either. I have converted one to use F150 spring setup in the front but it was an off road racer. Not safe at all on the road with the camber I put on it.
Body lift really is the way to go if you want it safe and care about driveline angles and avoiding the death wobble. Seriously.
I had a old F150 4x4 that I put a 70 camaro body on once. It was about 18 inches of body lift with 44 inch gumbo mudders. It drove great all things considered. I painted it bright orange with a rebel flag on the roof. I feel for the guy that ownes it now. I still see it occasionally. I wonder how many times he's been shot at.
I know they make a coils over for the SD's but they run solid axles on those not TTB's that and then they're runnning a 4 link woth them you might might be able to do a converstion to that if you want to spend the money and youll need a dana 60 and some fab skills. They make body lifts for our years but are not intended for diesel applications. The body mounts are the same as gassers so they'd work. They take some time and enginuity to install and make em work though. You have to adjust the column angle and weld a piece into the shift linkage on autos. On manual and manual 4x4's you have to adjust the floor shifter boots. On all models you have to lower the radiator unless youve got a lot of excces hose slcak but youll still have to refit or remove the fan shroud. I cant really figure why they say they arent for diesels though, other than maybe cable lengths ie battery cables to starter, cables from the IDM or PCM to the motor and or fuel lines from the frame to motor. The biggest isues with body lifts are just that lines and wires getting stretched to the max. That and adjustment for fixing items that cant be stretched.
