getting better throttle response and performance

Hey all I was wondering if i could ask what everyone has done to thier trucks to get better performance and throttle response out of them. I have a 92 f150 with a 5.8l and a E4OD tranny. I was planning on (eventually piece by piece) putting a shift kit in the tranny, doing a mass air conversion, putting on long tube headers, putting on an edlebrock performance efi intake, putting in a snorkel tube off a i6. Is there anything else anyone thinks i should do to it?

The shift kit will help , the LT headers are a good improvement , intake is good , i wouldnt worry about mass air unless your going to do heads & cam , 1.7 rockers will help and advance the timing a few deg , underdrive pulleys E fans are good .... Lew

The base timing is set at 10 deg BTDC with the spout plug out , you can set it to 12-14 most of the time as long as it dosn't ping , Something you have to play with sometimes . The underdrive pulleys are just different sized pulleys that slow down the accessories to free up some HP , they make them for the mustang but will work on the trucks to ....

Negative on the underdrive pulleys for a mustang working.I tried that once and I kept eating belts. The pulleys didn't quite line up.

Valvebody from thePUNISHER is the best way to go. MAF...maybe if you are changing the cam and heads to something more aggressive. Headers are a good suggestion too. If you have a 4x4 consider shorty headers and a 3" y-pipe and a single 3" exhaust.

Gears, did someone say gears? Never fear the gear. Always high on the list for any performance build. Edelbrock truck intake...not high on my list. Better than the factory 5.8L EFI intake, but not by that much for the money spent. It's designed for use with factory E7 heads. I am not not a big fan of under drive pulleys on a daily driver.

.....Thats the first time i heard that ? I use them on my 302 & they line up perfect , mabee the 351 is different or year specific ? I know if you remove the air pump & don't use the idler pulley it can cause problems . I have heard people on this form use the pulleys on the 351 with no problems ....Lew
