i have a 1994 f 150 xl with a 240 engine. i think i put bad gas in it now it runs really rough. i drained the tank changed the filter. put in seafoam and new gas. it runs good for 10 min or so then back the the bad gas type running. but im thinking i have a other issue that needs to be fixed. any ideas?? ive been told the ignition moduel or the fuel pump and a few others. i am not sure i believe the guy that told me because he already ripped me off fixing my transmission. it starts fine dont even have to touch the gas. could my egr valve cause that much issue???? im lost please help this is my work truck so im out of work till i fix it.
Well, for starters, if you're sure the guy that told you that is trying to rip you off- don't go back to him! You can always find another shop to get a second opinion.
Second, there's a number of things that cause an engine to run rough, but I'd start with fuel pressure in this case. Test your fuel pressure regulator by disconnecting the vacuum line that hooks into it. If you see gas drip out of the line, the FPR is bad and needs replaced. If it's good, you'll need to get the fuel pressure tested with a gauge; there's a nipple on the fuel rail, usually near the front of the engine, that you can use to test with.
