I'm Joe. I've followed threads on here for awhile to help me with my build. Just a wall flower checking out pics and information on my swap. I've listened to a lot of you especially "numberdummy" and would probably be lost if it wasn't for some of his expertise. A lot of you really...
Here's what I have:
1979 F100 Dent side 2wd (77 front clip. why? I have no idea but that will change!) poor mans diesel short block and C4 removed. 1985 Rear with 3.55 gears (I didn't do it but I want my 9" back)
Here's whats going in it:
69 Thunderjet. Lunati Voodoo Cam, weiand high rise dual plane, Holley 800DP, 2" spacer, Noisy Timing Gears. 14x5" Accel Cleaner (matched my block), HEI distributor (I'm not hating on GM for that modification! It's a cheap MSD alternative), 1990 F350 460 wide belt pulleys (Can't get my crank pulley to line up with the water pump pulley though. Had to add about 3/8" spacer.)
unfortunately I'm still trying to find the 460 Towers that I read on here I need to do the swap. but what I also have an issue with is the motor mount. I've come back to trucks from the classic mustang side and this is biting me in the rear. I cannot figure out what I'm missing and how the mount I ordered from O'reilly is supposed to bolt onto my block. Here are a few pics and any help would be great. I sure hope I'm not coming off like the Noob who doesn't know how to use the search button.
sorry haven't figured out how to make pics smaller
The piece you are holding is the motor mount. The two bolt holes that are not mated to the rubber fit over the towers on the frame. There is a horseshoe metal bracket that bolts to the engine block and bolts through the rubber portion. Hooker did make a adaptor frame horn for this type of motor mount.
Did your 429 have any stock mounts? The first swap I did I used the stock 429 mounts that were in a 70 mercury. set the engine on the stock frame towers and drilled a hole for a bolt through the tower front to rear. Kinda like a chevy mount. Worked for years.
I have the perches and clamshells that you need. I bought a 460 from a 77 f250 2wd and need to put it in my 77 f250 4wd. the clamshells and perches wont work for me, and I need L&L mounts. I will sell you what I got and it will help us both! pm me.
