I recenty bought a SCT Xcalibrator 2 flash tool off of a co worker for my 2005 F-250 superduty with a 6 speed manual trans. After buying the product i installed the program on my computer to unlock it i then installed one of the program that came on the unit in my truck the uploading and downloading both completed. I then start my truck and it didnt even crank over the odm just has dashes acoss it and the small wrech and check guages appears on the dash. So i then restored my ecm to factory programming and it complete. after restoring i tried to start the truck again and the same happened. I followed by disconnecting the battery termanls hoping it needed reset but this did not fix the problem so now for two days i have been attemting to contact sct about the problem and they have still not got back to me. Is it possible that the programmer lost the file?
Keep trying SCT...they can walk you thru it remotely over your PC to get you up and running with a stock PCM strategy. This stock strategy will just get you back on your feet though. You should have verified your trucks PCM strategy code before doing anything. If your current flash strategy code was different than the tuner's tune files...there is your problem...it shouldn't have let you progress. Anyway...get ahold of SCT...get then to help you update your tuner with a generic strategy that will work for your truck...load this onto your PCM....start the truck, drive to the nearest dealer...get the latest flash for your MY....then plug in the SCT tuner...only this time...just read your trucks current (new flash) strategy...write this down...you will need it later. Then go to your PC and if you have not already downloaded the SCT Updater....then do so. Then plug in your SCT tuner and update your Tuner Firmware files and Tune Revision update files. Once that is done you may then purchase custom tunes from a reputable Tune writer (i.e. Eric or Ted @ IDP)....then download these tunes to your tuner...then load them to you trucks PCM...and enjoy. If I left anything out...someone will be along to correct it I'm sure.
Yeah I went through this awhile back. What a PITA. SCT will have to get your vin and write you a new stock tune just to get you up and running, THEN work on getting the other so it will download. When you call SCT, make sure its a few hours before they close and make sure you have plenty of time as IIRC it took a couple hours on the phone. Make sure your truck is near and your internet is ready to go as they will remotley connect to your PC and take over from there.
