Stanadyne VS other additives

Just found a great steal on the stanadyne additive. Threw it in the tank last night and drove it home, about 15 miles. Went out this am and holy crap, not plugged in and barely above 30F and it didnt even get through a revolution. It was similar to when i run it for my trip to work and then stop off for coffee on the way and restart it hot. Kaboom it was instant. Not power service, not howes, nothing worked like that before. I found my new additive, especially since the place i got it doesnt carry the power service brand.

What's a great deal? I know a couple places around here that carry it, never really gave it a lot of thought as to price though.

15.50 for the half gallon. It is only four dollars (after tax) more than the 32oz power service. I heard that the white bottles of power service are going on sale for 6.99 soon or already at canadian tire.

Stanadyne designed and built our injection pumps...... I used Stanadyne Pro religiously for "lubrication" when I first got my truck, but cost forced me to other brand(s). Now with the possibility of a gelling issue here in the deep cold, I use Howes. If I could find S.pro cheaper I would go back for summer use.

I use Diesel Kleen in both of our trucks. I get it at D&B for $13.50/96oz container.

Temps are not freezing anymore. There for awhile we were at the 18-20F range, but now we are way above freezing. When we drop way down in the cold range, i still dose the white bottle of PS. By the way what is D&B, it isnt clicking, sorry.

When I change fuel filters on my 6.9 I plan to fill the new filter with Diesel Kleen..... I also want to pull the water seperater and check it (the drain valve) for operation, likely fill it with diesel kleen as well when I reinstall it.

Is this a smart thing to do? As in fill the new filter with Diesel Kleen....

Filling the fuel filter yes, not sure about the water separator. I don't have one so no advice.

Thanks Wreckinball..... I suspect if it's a good thing to do with the filter the same should apply for the water seperator.... unless there is a concern about the engine getting too much DieselKleen at the same time..... Anyone have any thoughts on that?

the engine can only receive as puch as the injectors let through. No matter if you filled the tank, filter, and water separator at the same time, it will still burn the same amount. Know what i mean?

I know what you mean and I agree.... I think my thought process was more along the lines of the ratio between the amount of actual fuel and the amount of additive. For example, some people burn used motor oil and my understanding is that used motor oil burns too hot or has more energy per gallon (something like that anyway) and can cause lots of problems if it is too great a concentration....

The power service diesel kleen, and howes both run at almost the same BTU's as diesel fuel. It will be fine, just really expensive if you filled a tank with it!
