hfugate, I highly recommend a 2nd CPS placed in your glove box for the future. It will fail again, and it might not be in a civilized area. Just my .02.
My wait to start light also worked when my GPR failed. That is interesting though.
If the CPS was bad ,there would be no smoke..CPS is what tells the PCM the motor is turning over .The issue seems to be ,no WTS light
When my cps went bad in my 96 the truck would start and run , but , would smoke white like a freight train . When the truck would run it would rough . When my 97 had a bad cps the truck would run fine , but , would just up and die at stop lights . My trucks would always start and run when the cps was bad .
I dont know what controls the wts light . Just b/c the light goes out doesnt mean that the glow plugs arent still heating . The gp's run for about 90 secs no matter what the light says . Just b/c the light is not working doesnt mean the gp's arent .
