Anyone running 255mm wide tires on their Super Duty? What do you think of them? Are they "E" load range tires? Do you tow or put much in the bed? Are there any performance differences, increase/decrease in mileage, etc.?
I'm considering some for my next tires, but since they are narrower than even the stock tires I'm wondering what they might be like.
Well, I like tall/skinny tires (I like my women with a bit of meat on 'em, my tires not so much). I was looking for narrower tires and found some that really interest me but because they were narrower than my stock tires I wondered about 'em, but if some SDs came with 245, then the 255 oughta work well for what I use my truck. And, as you've noticed, it seems they're significantly less money than the Cooper and Toyos I had considered.
I had 235's on the X when I bought it. They seemed to work fine, even with the extra weight of the X. I didn't like the looks of them so when I replaced I went with the 285's.
The only problem I see running 255's is if they ever get damaged in any way as to render them replace and not fix most shops would not have that size in stock.
The other option apart from studding is to get them sipped.(sp)
