Hard start in cold weather

Hello everyone. Well im new to the forum. Im glad i found it. There is some great info on hear. I looked for the answer to this question but didnt see it , its probebly on here somewhere. Anyway here it is.

I bout a 2003 excursion with the 6.0, Ive been haveing trouble starting it latley. If I dont park it inside it wont start, when it does start it puffs black smoke and idles like a 2000 hp drag car. Very loud and irratic. There is also no power till it warms up. About 30-45 min of idleing. After its warn it runs very well, Smooth constint power. Any idea.

It may be your glow plugs, but usually it's white smoke if its your gp.

With the way things are going lately it will likely turn out to be your FICM, a fairly easy fix just kind of expensive

Im making it from mostly oil from the restaurants. It runs good on it so far. The starting problem was there before the bio. I just bought it 2 month ago and when i got it home i noticed the, No power until warm thing and when it got colder cam the white smoke then black. Although It was 22 below yesterday and 14 below this morning and it still started with a 50% blend. Still smoked lit crazy till it warmed up.

OK, have a few things checked out since the problem was before the bio, usually most guys look for a common rail diesel over the 6.0L for running home brewed oil. These injectors are quite expensive if lubricity is lost.
