How to bleed fuel line

I am installing a new fuel filter and i need to know how to bleed the fuel line to release the pressure. Also how do i get the air back out after installing new filter?1996 Ford Explorer XLT 4.0

Standard procecdure the manuals give for releasing pressure is to disable the fuel pump (easy to do by unplugging the inertia switch) and start (or attempt to start) the engine.
After replacing the filter, you shoudn't need to worry about bleeding the system. Prime the fuel system a few times by turning the key on and off (Older Explorers have a fuel pump test lead in the EEC-IV connector that can be used to run the pump without starting the engine. I don't know if EEC-V has a similar test lead). The fuel pump running will flush the air out of the system on it's own.

there is also a valve on the fuel rail that has a black cap on it. pull the cap off and press the valve inside with a small screw driver. Just like deflating a tire.
